STIR/SHAKEN
A pair of standards for cryptographically attesting that a calling party is authorized to use the caller ID they're presenting.
What it means in practice
STIR (Secure Telephone Identity Revisited) and SHAKEN (Signature-based Handling of Asserted information using toKENs) together form the framework carriers use to sign outbound calls. Attestation levels are A (full, carrier vouches for caller + number), B (partial, carrier vouches for caller only), or C (gateway, minimal vouching). Calls without A-level attestation are increasingly flagged as spam by downstream carriers.
In VICIPanel
VICIPanel's carrier dashboard shows per-trunk STIR/SHAKEN attestation breakdown. If your A-attestation share drops below your carrier's contractual minimum, we alert you.
